According to a statement released by the IPL on Thursday, 'Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been penalized for his team's slow over-rate during Match No. 23 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.'
The statement further explained, 'This penalty was imposed as it marked the second offence for his team this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate violations. Consequently, Samson has been fined ₹24 lakhs.'
Additionally, the other players in the playing XI, including the Impact Player, will incur a fine of either ₹6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees, whichever amount is lower.
